Maltepe University, established in 1991 with the motto "From Preschool to University," is the latest link in the successful education history of Marmara Education Institutions. The University was founded by the Istanbul Marmara Education Foundation (IMEV) on July 9, 1997, through Law No. 4282. It operates as a public legal entity subject to the provisions of Law No. 2547 regarding foundations and higher education institutions, under the supervision of the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
